Mistake

I was recently asked, “What mistakes can I avoid when I start my career in real estate?”

You will make mistakes, so don’t even bother to avoid them. Rather, it’s more important to learn quickly from your mistakes and to not give up.

Early in my real estate career, I was fired by a client. This occurred after my client cancelled escrow. For the first time in my life, I got fired.

I called my broker to tell him the news. Rather than berating me, he responded, “It’s okay. What could you have done better?” I realized I could have been more thorough in explaining the escrow process.

Since this incident, I have never been fired by a client. Actually, I had a breakout year.

Being fired has empowered me to become a better Realtor because I learned to better meet the needs of my clients.
